The first phase of construction activity at People’s Park began this morning and caused an emergency shut-off of 11 water services in surrounding areas. According to a spokesperson from the East Bay Municipal Utility District, or EBMUD, Andrea Pook, the likely cause of the outage was a contractor hitting a main water line. She stated that the current affected areas are portions of Bowditch Street, Telegraph Avenue, Channing Way and Haste Street. Pook noted that while 11 services have been affected, EBMUD is not aware of how many residents in the surrounding apartment buildings are impacted by the shut-off. She added that EBMUD notified residents of the shut-off. Read more through the link in bio. ✍️: Lucía Umeki-Martínez 📸: Theo Wyss-Flamm . . . #ucberkeley #dailycal #peoplespark #berkeleycity
