POV you’re in the middle of a meeting when your VP drops off a hatful (yes, a hatful!) of duck eggs 🦆🤣 Bryce Lundberg, third-generation farmer and VP of Agriculture, was helping to harvest a field of cover crops when he discovered a duck nest in the harvester’s path. So, he rescued the eggs by hand and asked us to take them to a local hatchery to be incubated, hatched, raised, and released back into the wild! What the duck are cover crops and why are there ducks in them? 🧐 Well, when we’re not growing rice, we grow cover crops like oats or vetch to help sequester carbon, restore nutrients to the soil, reduce weeds, and prevent erosion. Ducks also love cover crops because they’ve lost a lot of their natural breeding habitat. So, when we find duck nests in our fields, we rescue the eggs by hand.
