Herd the news? It’s National Bison Day! 🦬
Created to celebrate America’s largest land mammal; it has been celebrated on the first Saturday in November since 2012. No other wildlife species has had as much impact on humans and the ecosystems that they occupied than bison. Since the late 20th century, national parks — in collaboration with Tribes, states and conservationists — have been a primary national conservation steward of the bison. Today, 19 herds in 12 states roam the American Plains.
