It’s #NationalFossilDay, an annual celebration held to highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations. Just like parks, fossils come in all shapes and sizes! In fact, more than 280 National Park Service areas preserve fossils, with 16 established wholly or in part just for their fossils! From dinosaur fossils at dinosaurnps to human footprints at whitesandsnps that go back thousands of years, fossils are found in the rocks, museum collections, and cultural contexts of parks across the country!
