“On Wednesdays we wear pink.” - Karen Smith
So fetch! The western coachwhip, pictured here in pink hues, is a great example of a brightly colored, non-venomous snake. I’m not like a regular snake. I’m a cool snake. Though not dangerous to people or pets, they will readily bite to defend themselves. Same. (Or put you in their burn book.)
A big myth concerning coachwhips is that they chase people. Aren’t you special? This likely arises from the snake and the person both being frightened, and both just happening to be going the same way to escape. Awkward. Don’t get us wrong, they are fast snakes (up to 4 mph), often moving faster than a human which may give the impression of aggression but really they’re just trying to get away from you. Don’t look at me!
