Ferns just wanna have frond! 🌿 Between two ferns. Well, maybe a few more. The Cinnamon Fern prefers to grow in damp soil, making it a common plant to be found in streambeds and roadside ditches. Fun fact: Cinnamon Ferns do not actually produce cinnamon; they are named for the color of their fronds. The fronds appear in the spring, initially as bright green wands, then turn a deep cinnamon brown. The frond stems are edible, either raw or cooked, and are said to taste like broccoli, artichoke, and asparagus. Do ferns grown where you live? These Cinnamon Ferns were spotted along the Cold Harbor Battlefield driving tour near Richmond, Virginia. @richmond.nps #fern #nature #virginia #plants #ferns #travel #nationalparks
