It’s goin’ down, we’re yelling timber. Oh, wait, it already came down on its own. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Recently, a large tree fell across the Boardwalk Trail at @congareenps. If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? We asked around. It was inconclusive. The park’s branch manager, or was it the assistant to the branch manger, got the job done in safely removing the tree blocking the trail. Known for its giant hardwoods and towering pines, Congaree’s floodplain forest includes one of the highest canopies in the world. At times, the wilderness area can be impacted by downed trees or flood damage. Video: A large tree laying across wooden trail is cut by employees. As it’s cut, the rootball springs back into its original place. #trees #timber #congareenationalpark #southcarolina #forest #trees
