When the weather gets warmer, the giant government issue pens come out. 🖊️ Seen here next to a Mottled Rock Rattlesnake (right), this pen is capable of writing continuously for one mile in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees below zero to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Oh, we’re supposed to be writing about the snake? Why didn’t anyone say anything? We’ve been talking about a pen for like three sentences. We even used an emoji. Do you think anyone is still reading? Can we salvage this? Now, when the weather gets warmer, more snakes may start to make an appearance. Be aware that snakes in the Chihuahuan Desert are very good at camouflage and come in various sizes. This picture was taken of a small Mottled Rock Rattlesnake (Crotalus lepidus). Nailed it. Once again, the pen in the picture is only used for size comparison with the snake. It belongs to the park, not the snake.
