Bunker play has been one of my favorite parts of the game since first picking up a club 70+ years ago. Most golfers find playing out of the sand difficult and so I offer three key tips to improving your bunker play.
- First, create a strong base by standing wide with your weight on your leading foot.
- Second, cock your wrists as quickly as possible (strengthening your grip is a great trick to allow for greater wrist cock).
- Finally, “strike the match.” Not accelerating through the sand is the fatal flaw for most golfers.
I hope this helps you hole out of a few bunkers yourself!
