Defense takes on many forms. -Cobra Kai Hiss off! Sorry, strike first! When approached, the eastern hog-nosed snake snake can hiss loudly and flatten its head and neck like a cobra. (Imitation is intimidation!) If these defenses fail to ward off an enemy, it may turn things up a notch. Or on its side? It will thrash around, open its mouth, roll over, and play dead! (There’s no need to get hisssss-terical!) The eastern hog-nosed is not dangerous to people or pets, although they do have a mild venom to subdue their prey (mainly amphibians). As with any wildlife you may encounter in a park, best to observe from distance and give them space. We all like space. Video Description: Cobra clutch!
