Local stingray in great mood! Footage at 11! The bat ray, named for its long pectoral fins that resemble bat wings (I’m Bat Ray!), is usually found brooding in muddy or sandy sloughs, estuaries and bays, kelp beds and rocky-bottomed shorelines in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Feelin’ flappy? The rays flap their pectoral fins in the sand to show off, err….expose buried prey and then use their lobe-like snout to dig prey from their sandy bottom habitats, thus doing their part to protect the kelp beds from organized fish crime and other jokers.
