"It's not easy bein' green!" -Kermit the Frog 🐸
Did you know it’s
#AmphibianWeek? The celebration of all things amphibian is meant to emphasize the important role amphibians play in the ecosystem and food chain. And it's also meant to bring awareness of the unique physiological nature of amphibians.
For instance, the American green tree frog is quite ribbiting! That was froggin' awful. They are primarily solitary, who group only for the breeding season. These frogs are nocturnal beings who mainly spend the daytime sleeping on branches and leaves.
What’s that sound? Green Tree Frogs make a unique and distinguishable honking noise up to 75 times per minute. A honking frog? This mating call sometimes resembles the sound of a bell (oh, much better), which is why these frogs are often referred to as Bell Frogs or Cowbell Frogs (more cowbell!). When they feel threatened, they generate an ear-piercing scream. Picture a frog being chased by a large pig.
