When you get out of the shower and you sit on the bed trying to get yourself pumped up to get dressed and start your day. You got this. Five more minutes. No, don’t you go back in your burrow. Primarily crepuscular (active at dusk and dawn) during warmer months, prairie dogs spend most hot days sleeping and are active above ground in the morning and evening. In cool or overcast weather, prairie dogs may remain above ground all day. They emerge shortly after sunrise and return to the burrow around sunset. Rain will often drive them to retreat underground. We know what you’re thinking. That’s me! Yes. It’s all of us. If you do get dressed (winning!), head out to a park. There’s probably one closer than you think. Baby steps. Visit nps.gov to find a park, activity, or an event that barks to you!
