M M M My dirona…
This golden dirona (Dirona pellucida) nudibranch was spotted among the pilings on the Glacier Bay dock this week! Note its translucent body, spiral-shaped rhinophores (sensory tentacles), and its many white-tipped cerata used for both respiration and predator defense.
Have you seen a sea slug in the wild? This one was easy to spot from above the water, bright orange amongst teal-green water and brown dock pilings.
📹NPS Video: Orange sea slug slowly moves across a piling in search of food. White speckles adorn its translucent body. Its cerata gently wave in the water.
