Alpenglow and a moonrise to boot!
This full moon is the first of the year, known as the wolf moon. Thanks to the early sunset (3:51 pm) in Glacier Bay, this moonrise timed perfectly with the sunset to paint a beautiful scene. For those that don’t know, Alpenglow is an atmospheric optical phenomenon which makes mountains appear to glow in a light pink or red hue. It occurs just after the Sun sets or just before it rises.
