"Your body is like day-old rice. If it ain't warmed up properly, something real bad could happen." - Ted Lasso
Whether hiking, backpacking, or planning to be on your feet for an extended period of time, stretching before and after is a highly effective way to prepare your body for any physical activity and to prevent injuries. If you’re stretching before a hike, do a few dynamic movements first. Try brisk walking, leg and arm swings, or even a few jumping jacks. (Poking a bear and running up a tree, although a good cardio workout, is not recommended.) We can unpack that with you later.
What are some ways you like to prepare before hitting the trail or embarking on a physical park activity?
