Bison are especially known for creating "bison jams" in parks by stopping traffic as they cross or stand in the road. If you find yourself sharing the road, be patient for the bison to make their way or finish their calming circle (Mummy!) You can go around them, but only if it’s safely possible for everyone. They know you’re waiting. Though Bison generally have poor eyesight, they have acute hearing and an excellent sense of smell. (I smell children?) Remember, “Driving safely in our National Parks” means more than just driving the speed limit; (Pull over, let me see your driver’s permit!) it means obeying traffic regulations, wearing seatbelts, and watching out for wildlife.
