Preventing fires takes an effort of an entire team, no matter how big or how small. Everyone contributes to a safe, fire-free environment regardless of where they are. The National Fire Protection Association reminds us during this fire prevention week to learn the sounds of fire safety. If you hear a beep get on your feet, if you hear a chirp make a change. Be sure you regularly replace the batteries on your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, especially when you hear the low battery chirp. When a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm projects the warning beep, get up and get out to safety as quickly as possible.
To prepare for a potential fire, remember to plan an escape route, test your smoke alarms, and practice home fire drills.
