“From a child, I had an inordinate desire for knowledge…” – G.W. Carver⁣ ⁣ Located in southwestern Missouri, George Washington Carver National Monument is the birthplace and childhood home of the famed scientist, educator, and humanitarian. Established on July 14, 1943, it was the first unit of the National Park Service dedicated to an African American. The site preserves the boyhood home of Carver, as well as the 1881 Moses Carver house and the Carver cemetery. Inspired by his birthplace and natural surroundings, Carver studied and contributed great accomplishments to the field of agriculture. He was deeply interested in the regenerative properties of soil and the potential of alternative crops such as peanuts and soybeans to produce other products.⁣ ⁣ Image: Statue of young George Washington Carver sits on top of a large rock with imprints fossils of crinoids, brachipods, and corals at @gwcarvernps, Missouri.⁣ ⁣ #missouri #GeorgeWashingtonCarver #peanuts #inventor #agriculture #natio...
