@TSA! Seeing a bear in the wild is a treat for any visitor to a park. Just don’t become a treat for the bear. It’s important to remember that bears in national parks are wild and can be dangerous. Always keep at least 100 yards from bears and never approach a bear to take a photo. (They rarely sign a photo release and it’s often too hard to get the more flattering top angle.) If you’re out exploring bear country, we recommend traveling in groups, making noise on the trail, carrying bear spray, and knowing how to use it. Find a few more bear tips below.
