Isn’t it nice when a tree starts to bear fruit? ⁣ ⁣ Wait, those aren’t fruit? Black bears are excellent at climbing and use all four legs to do it. They push their bodies up with their hind legs whilst pulling and gripping with their front legs. They have strong curved claws that allow them to climb trees with agility. Bears climb down the same way they go up the tree, with their heads at the top. Bears have been seen to climb down trees in a walking fashion but have also been seen to slide down or jump down from lower elevations. If you see a bear in a tree, hopefully you’re on a higher branch. (We told you not climb!) If you do come across a tree full of young bears, do not disturb, go about your way. Mamma bear may have encouraged those bears up a tree for safety and doesn’t need you making a scene. Also, mamma bear is behind….⁣ ⁣ Image: Zoomed in photo showing three young bears climbing a tree at Glacier National Park. ⁣ ⁣ #bear #glacier #upatree #nationalparkservice #montana
