The National Park Service Museum Management Program has launched a virtual exhibit to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the return of ethnographic objects collected between 1836 -1846 to the Nez Perce Tribe. The exhibit was developed in collaboration with the Nez Perce Tribe and Nez Perce National Historical Park. The collection received its new Nez Perce Nimíipuu name, WETXUUWÍITIN COLLECTION, at the Nez Perce Renaming Celebration this past weekend. The Renaming Celebration symbolizes the importance of these rare objects and their return home to the Nez Perce. Visit today’s story and explore the early and well-preserved artifacts.
