Not just for the breakfast table, bacon can be found in many caves including Lehman Caves at
@greatbasinnp in Nevada. Cave bacon is a rock formation officially known as layered flowerstone. Flowstones are composed of sheetlike deposits of calcite formed where water flows down the walls or along the floors of a cave. Sometimes, mineral impurities will stain the calcite in such a way as to look like a strip of bacon. Hey! No drooling. What are some other cave formations that have caught your eye?
