Deer puns? Not a fawn of them.
We are a fawn of leaving animals alone. Fawns are born nearly scentless and their spots act as camouflage - both adaptations to protect them from predators. Because of this, a doe will often leave its fawn alone during the day in order to forage. Many times, well-meaning hikers find the lonesome fawn and "rescue" it, believing it to be abandoned. This can result in the separation of the young from its mother. If you do find one of these animals, quietly leave the area without disturbing it.
