@zionnps can be seen performing these "push-up" displays (Push-ups? Oh, you mean bench pressing the Earth), elevating the head and upper body in vigorous up-and-down motions. The desert spiny lizard, seen here, is one of the largest and most common species at Zion to engage in this behavior. The body language is often used as a threatening gesture to drive competitors out of one's territory, as well as a means to to garner attention. If visiting, see if you can spot this fascinating behavior. Try not to stare to long and avoid any impromptu push-up challenge.
