Reunited!
Astronaut Michael Collins captured this image 55 years ago from the Command and Service Module on July 21, 1969, after Armstrong and Aldrin had finished exploring the surface and began to rendezvous and dock the Lunar Module.
Today, we are getting ready for crewed missions to the Moon under the
#Artemis campaign. Artemis astronauts will live and work on the South Pole of the Moon, training and testing technology that will be needed to send humans to Mars.
Image description: The Apollo 11 Lunar Module floats over the gray surface of the Moon as it approaches the Command and Service Module. The view of the spacecraft is from inside of the Command and Service Module looking outward. The edge of the window can be seen in the bottom right. In the background, the Earth rises above the lunar horizon against the blackness of space.
