Col. Rizzo led his troops on another victorious charge through history this summer.
For two decades, history teacher Sam Rizzo ’97 has led CHS students on a trip to Gettysburg, Pa. and Washington, D.C. A group of rising seniors toured Civil War battlegrounds and other historic sites in June.
“We try to make history ‘come alive’ by marching the battlefields in Gettysburg for tours and reenactments,” said Rizzo, a 21-year teacher at CHS who is the History Department Chair and a teacher of Advanced Placement U.S. History.
This year’s group, which toured Gettysburg sites as the 195th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment under Col.
