This week's Title IX recognition is Elise Wheeler! Elise was a Flippin' Bird from 2006 to 2010 and was one of the best gymnasts to ever wear the Thunderbird leos. Elise was named WAC Freshman of the Year and she qualified twice for the NCAA National Championship in all around. Elise is also a 4x academic all-America and a 3x NCAA All-American, and in 2010 she helped the Thunderbirds win a conference championship. Her favorite memory as a T-Bird was winning the WAC championship! "As I empower my own daughter to be brave and strong, we must remember those who were just that.. instrumental in blazing the trail for women's equal opportunity to thrive in classrooms and in sports." Today, Elise works as a Clinical Territory Associate at Intuitive Surgical.
