Our Title IX Banquet, to celebrate 50 years of Title IX, is almost here! This week’s T-Bird feature is current women’s basketball assistant coach Hailey Mandelko. Before coaching, Hailey dominated in the T-Bird uniform from 2011-2015. She led her 2013-14 team to a Big Sky Championship and set a top-five record in points per season (467). She was also the first Thunderbird to earn the Big Sky All-Conference First Team. However, Hailey’s favorite moments have to do with the relationships she built as a player; “The bond we built, the fun times we shared, the tough moments we went through were all apart of the family we built and still have today and I am forever grateful for each and every one of them. Hailey’s advice for female athletes: “Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t. Find a way to prove them wrong. No girls team? Play with the boys. Not good enough?
