Nike co-founder Phil Knight is reportedly willing to exhaust his vast resources to ensure the Oregon Ducks football team wins a national championship.
Former coach Rick Neuheisel revealed on SiriusXM College Sports Radio last Friday that Knight is essentially providing “unlimited” name, image, and likeness — or NIL — funding to his alma mater. Such a move essentially gives the program a blank check to give players however much they want to get them to play for the team.
Neuheisel claimed he was at a recent coaches event where it was “no secret” that Knight is throwing as much money as possible at the program.
Whatever Knight is providing, seems to be working. In the immediate, Oregon is finding success, with the second-ranked class in the nation in the transfer portal.
