The Southern Poverty Law Center calls for a full and unbiased investigation into the police shooting of Tortuguita, a climate justice activist protesting the destruction of the Weelaunee Forest to build a police training facility. Since our founding, the SPLC has worked to protect and advance the civil and human rights of all people. We join our partners in the Atlanta area in urging de-escalation of violence and police use of force against Black, Brown and Indigenous communities.
