Our School Health Program recently celebrated its 20th anniversary! The program began in 1996 with six nurses who covered K - 5th grade in 19 schools. Today it has grown to include as many as 20 RNs, BSNs, and a manager who provide school health services to all 37 Pitt County Schools and alternative programs. This includes almost 24,000 students in pre-K - 12th grade. These caring nurses promote student health, academic success, and lifelong achievement. School nurses believe that health and education are intrinsically linked and work to ensure that students are not only present at school, but are healthy and ready to learn!
