What an excellent Advance Care Planning event we had this week at the Hilton Greenville. Five-hundred participants joined in for a healthy meal and to hear Dr. Marty Makary, a Johns Hopkins surgical oncologist, professor and acclaimed author, speak on how crucial it is to act now to specify how you want to be cared for during your final days. He discussed the importance of talking with your family and your provider to create the best possible end-of-life experience. He also inspired everyone with empowering stories of real patients who have influenced his medical practice. Following the keynote presentation, expert panelists joined Dr. Makary to offer advice and assist participants in their advance care planning.
