Sunday prayer is that my ancestors are looking down on me with pride as I wear the word “Valiente” across my chest and deep within my soul. I am not as brave as many before me like my Mom & Dad or my Aunts and Uncles who came to this country without knowing what awaited them, working hard outdoors in all weather, walking to bus stops to clean rich womens homes all while raising children with two languages, cultures and customs that would need to blend together and create new traditions to be passed on to future generations. I am not that kind of Valiente. But, I continue to work hard, learn and grow more so that I can also break barriers and cycles and build and perpetuate wealth, and not allow us to remain in the past.
