Sometimes we really don’t understand how deeply we love, or can love, until what we love is gone. 💔 It’s been six long years, to the day, that I said goodbye to Casey. And for months after she passed my heart was absolutely broken, parts of my heart will never heal, but I remember one thing someone told me that gave me a little peace. “Pets come into our lives to teach us a lesson. And when that lesson is learned… they leave us.” I wasn’t ready for Casey to leave my life, but cancer had another plan that I couldn’t do anything to stop. When I thought long and hard about what lesson I learned from Casey, it was absolutely unconditional love. No matter how my day was, how good or how bad, she loved me with every fiber of her being. She would have given her life to protect mine in an instant.
