A year makes a bunch of difference. Last year I was working full time and just started seriously performing circus arts. I was strong in areas but overall I had very little control over the strength I had. I didn't have the stability that my body has now. I didn't pay as much attention to my lines or my flexibility or the things that didn't come naturally. I would rely on my strength instead of focusing on technique. Sometimes I still do. It's a habit, not a bad one in my mind, but one that even to this day my coaches have to remind me once in a while to take a step back and focus on using strength as an advantage, not a dependency. I will always thank them for that. These are things I need to work on, these are the things I need to focus on in my training. In this time where I don't or can't see the people who remind me every day, I have to be their voice in my head. That's tough for me to do. But I gotta try.
