VCOP Spotlight July 2021 SAM SWAN You need to spell VOLUNTEER in all capital letters when you use it to describe Sam Swan. He is the second longest serving VCOP, logging over 11,735 hours since he joined in 2008! Sam was born in Scotland and in 1967 at 23 years of age, he and his family moved to the United States with the promise of new jobs for his dad and him in Detroit. He soon found himself in the Army stationed in Korea. The best part of that assignment was finding his Korean wife of 52 years. Together they have cruised all over the world and recently bought an RV with plans to explore lots of the USA. Besides his military service, Sam worked in manufacturing, as an EMT, and as a “flight follower” for the LifeFlight helicopters flying in and out of Holmes Regional Medical Center.
