When we construct one of our deep-water wells at a school, we're not just providing a source of clean water, but also linking it with education to create a powerful impact. Of course access to clean water is crucial for the health and productivity of students, reducing the number of days they miss due to water-borne illnesses - but the benefits extend beyond this. At Thasa Primary School, the community faced difficulties retaining teachers before the well was constructed. Living in an area without reliable access to clean water was a major problem for many teachers and they would soon request a transfer after a short time in the community. Now, with the well in place, teachers are more willing to reside in Thasa long-term, improving the quality and consistency of education for local students.
