For a few more days, we are featuring some fantastic wines grown in volcanic soils. The 2014 Etna Rosso ‘Contrada C’ is made from Nerello Mascalese which is not just grown on the slopes of Mt. Etna, but is also native to the area. These 70-100 year old vines reach their roots to the limestone below the lava flow to gather the nutrients and water they need. Minimal intervention winemaking gives you a true taste of the terroir in this wine. Aromatic, with rich, dark fruit, and the volcanic signature of ash. A medium weight wine balanced by firm-but-smooth tannins with a long finish. Amarone drinkers will love this wine! #italianwine #wineoftheweek #winebar #mplsdrinks
