Yesterday, I finally became a graduate of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. This journey has been long but so rewarding to say the least. I got to FAMU in 2009 and was excited to be in college. In my first two years there I became a member if the Beta Nu chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the Jazz Music director for our radio station WANM 90.5FM, and was voted Student Government Association Senate President. However, the summer going into my junior year my life would change forever. Summer leading into my junior year I received a phone call asking me to come to Paisley Park to audition and eventually become a member of Prince’s band, The New Power Generation. I called my mom, she told me to stay in school because Prince (opportunities like this) would always be around. I happily, but with love, disobeyed her request.
