Book 5 of 2022. This was an Amazon First read from January. It was also 2-stars, at best. What a hot mess. The Night Burns Bright tells the story of Lucien, a young boy who grows up inside a cult. Except, like many people in cults, he doesn’t *know* it’s a cult. 9/11 happens and his life begins to change. The premise sounds intriguing, which is why I chose it, but this novel moved so slowly I literally could not stay awake through 75% of it. Short, choppy sentences and a couple of glaring editorial misses send this straight to the “pass” shelf.
