The NWHL announced a few weeks ago that it would be raising its salary cap from $150,000 to $300,000 For a quick definition of what that is, a salary cap is an agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount of money that a team can spend on players' salaries. So basically, this means that the lowest a NWHL player can now make is $10,000 PER YEAR and the highest is $35,000. Many people make the argument that men’s hockey is better watched than women’s hockey, meaning basically that no viewership = no revenue and so that’s why they don’t make as much money. This is very much correct and I agree a hundred percent. But the question is why? The simple reason is that men’s hockey is better supported, better endorsed, better televised and better advertised. Have you ever seen a an ad for a women’s hocke...
