Checking is a huge part of hockey and both male and female hockey were allowed to check until it was suddenly banned for women in 1990. Over the years many people have advocated for the rights to let girls check like boys do. On one side, the pro-checkers say that it’ll make the sport more interesting to watch and so help women’s hockey to be more marketable and have more fans attend like men’s hockey.
