In 2018, at 14 years old, Alero and her family moved to Canada from Nigeria and she promptly took up hockey. Not being able to find any training or coaching resources for or by girls and women, Alero decided to do something about it and created hockeygirlz__ to fill this gap. She's also teaming up with hockey4youth to make hockey more accessible and to ensure other girls, especially other BIPOC girls, can get into hockey after seeing first hand how hard it is to access the game.
