As we wrap this year’s National Park Tour, I am immensely grateful to Blackpeoplewhohike for the opportunity to tell such an important story at such an important time! A group of Black people going to 5 different National parks and bringing their vibe, their black joy, their black excellence! There wouldn’t be a more fitting theme to end it all than Community. Black People Who Hike has defined community for me! I came into this project thinking I’ll be “a fly on the wall” as documentary filmmakers call it, I didn’t expect to be embraced, welcomed, made part of, included, remembered and SEEN like I was. I have always felt like the outsider in social spaces, always the guy who feels he’s not good enough, doesn’t speak well enough, not funny enough, easy to pick on and hate on, and so my guard has always been up to the sky!
