“No one will ever know the violence it took to become this gentle” At almost 34 years old I’ve spent my whole adult life in this industry. At 19 I was issued a M4 in infantry school and was told “this is what you kill your enemy with”. All we were told was “kill”. I went to airborne school and was told “when you jump out of this plane, be ready to kill the enemy”. Deployments later on only exposed me to what true acts of violence are. After exiting the military I joined the police department in hopes of finding a new passion. I quickly learned working my first year on nights, that almost every night was a fight for your life. Peace did not exist because people only call for help in the chaos. Fighting for your life nightly, in America, only a few miles from your home and in a country/community you swore to protect.
