Anger over a proposed $90 million police and fire training facility led to the destruction of some property downtown and several arrests. The 85-acre facility dubbed by its opponents as “Cop City” is expected to be built just outside the city of Atlanta. It would be the largest of its kind in the country. Last week, a climate activist was shot and killed by police at the site of the proposed facility, fueling an already tense situation between a robust coalition of activists and police.
