I really, really like to talk. I love to share my story. And any opportunity that I can share my story — and the many mistakes that come with it — is an opportunity to work toward becoming part of something that I so disparately wish that I had coming up. Do y’all understand that how you perform academically in ELEMENTARY school, can make your path to college and beyond, that much easier or harder? My entire 4 years at Morgan Park, I can’t remember a SINGLE time where anyone strategically discussed college programs, majors or minors with me — accept for when college admissions came and asked about my applications. 🤦🏽‍♀️ The only time a counselor spoke with me about courses, was when they forced me to take AP Calculus, but wouldn’t let me take band because I was in IB. The only people who remotely cared about my interest in sports, were Coach Nick and Mariah and n’em. 😂 And the only people that genuinely listened to me about what I wanted to do, was Mrs. Henley and Mrs. Miller.
