Why do people say "I'm so sorry," when finding out I'm deaf/hard of hearing or when people's babies are identified as deaf? I do believe their intentions are good, they see it as a challenge, something out of the "norm" or expected (in their hearing world). Instead of being offended, angry or close the door on allowing them into our lives - let's educate them. Let's show them the flip side. One of my favorites is being able to sleep through almost anything. I can and have slept through the loudest of auditory sounds - but I'll take in an instant with the touch of a hand or a dog jumping on my bed. I do have to be creative and figure out vibrotactile or illuminated alarms to wake up. However I fall asleep quickly AND remain in a deep, restful sleep through other people's alarms, traffic/road noise in the city and roommates. How restful is your sleep? What's something that you consider an advantage? #cochlearimplantsurgery #cochlearimplantjourney #cochlearimplantkids #dhhwithmhh #mamah...
