My mom remembers a moment when she felt overwhelmed, lost and defeated. She was crying when I went up to her and asked what was wrong. "I wish I could take your hearing loss for you," she said. "But Mama, maybe this is the way I was meant to be." What could have been one of the smallest moments turned out to be a PIVOTAL moment in our DHH family's journey. In that moment my mom shifted from focusing on all of the things her daughter couldn't do, to what she COULD do. Parenting a child who is deaf or hard of hearing presents unique challenges, but shifting our perspective can make a world of difference. Instead of fixating on potential limitations, let's highlight and rejoice in the skills and passions where our children excel. Their capabilities can surprise us, and by focusing on their strengths, we empower both them and ourselves. #DHHWithMHH #MamaHuHears #DHHAdvocate #EmpowerInspireAdvocate #Audiology #PediatricAudiology #DeafCulture #DeafCommunity #Deaf #DHHAdvocate #CochlearImpl...
